Farm animals parasitic diseases are widespread and are one of the enormous economic damage causes due to the negative impact on the animals growth and development and the associated productivity decrease. It is necessary to treat and prevent helminthiasis using highly effective and safe anthelmintics to reduce livestock products losses and quality and preserve animal health. The effectiveness decrease of existing drugs on account of the helminths resistance development as well as due to their toxicity, determines the need to search for alternative sources of biologically active compounds with anthelmintic properties.</p> <p>Purpose. Review and analysis of domestic and foreign scientific publications devoted to research on the use of plants containing proanthocyanidins (РАС) in livestock as anthelmintic agents.</p> <p>Materials and methods. The work is based on the original articles analysis and literary reviews which were searched in domestic and foreign scientific publications electronic databases PubMed, eLibrary, Scopus, Embase, Medline, GoogleScholar. The search depth covers the period 2000-2025, the share of literary sources for the last 5 years is 37%, for 10 – 70%. The structural and system analysis methods were used in the study.</p> <p>Results. Proanthocyanidins are widely studied for their use as feed additives in the plant raw materials composition, plant extracts and isolated individual substances in the cattle and small cattle cultivation, in pig and poultry farming. The experiments results in vitro, in situ and in vivo reveal the correlation between the proanthocyanidins concentration and the anthelmintic effect manifestation, as well as the animal productivity indicators formation; the chemical preparations effect with similar pharmacological action against the background of combined use with proanthocyanidins, the plant development phases characterized by the greatest accumulation of proanthocyanidins. The proanthocyanidins effect on various stages of the parasites life cycle is studied: egg hatching, molting stages and adults. It has been shown that the proanthocyanidins anthelmintic effect main site is the cuticle which binds to the surface intestinal membrane proteins. It leads to disruption of the molting process and loss of mobility, as well as enzyme secretion. The proanthocyanidins synergism and antagonism issues with other groups of plants biologically active substances and synthetic preparations of anthelmintic action, as well as nematodophage fungi, are considered.</p> <p>Conclusion. Within the work framework about two hundred scientific publications of domestic and foreign authors have been analyzed. Its showing that at the present stage of livestock development the research condensed tannins plant sources use as antiparasitic agents occupies an important place in the improving animal health aspect and consequently the livestock products nutritional value. The expansion of in vivo experiments is emphasized as a perspective. However, it should be noted that in domestic veterinary medicine, insufficient attention is paid to the search and study rich proanthocyanidins plant sources for the purpose of deworming farm animals.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Обоснование. Однако следует отметить, что в отечественной ветеринарии уделяется недостаточно внимания поиску и изучению растительных источников богатых проантоцианидинами с целью дегельминтизации сельскохозяйственных животных.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>anthelmintic effect</kwd><kwd>feed additives</kwd><kwd>plant proanthocyanidins sources</kwd><kwd>large and small livestock cultivation</kwd><kwd>pig farming</kwd><kwd>poultry farming</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>антигельминтное действие</kwd><kwd>кормовые добавки</kwd><kwd>растительные источники проантоцианидинов</kwd><kwd>выращивание крупного и мелкого рогатого скота</kwd><kwd>свиноводство</kwd><kwd>птицеводство</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="en">Pimenov, I.
